Garlic Shrimp – How to Make the Spanish Dish “Gambas al Ajillo”

Let's do this quickly and easily so you won't have to wait long for a delicious meal!

As a first step, heat up the grill and preheat it to 190 degrees Celsius. From here, we’ll move on to preparing the shrimp for the grill.

  1. Preparation:
    Finely chop the garlic cloves.
Clean and peel the shrimp if not already done.
  2. Pan Preparation:
Place a cast-iron pan on the grill and let it heat thoroughly.
  3. Oil Heating:
Once the pan is hot, pour olive oil into it and let the oil heat up.
  4. Frying the Garlic:
When the oil is sufficiently hot, add the chopped garlic to the pan.
Fry the garlic, stirring constantly, until it turns golden brown and aromatic. Be careful not to burn the garlic as it can make the dish bitter.
  5. Cooking the Shrimp:
Add the shrimp to the pan and a pinch of salt.
Cook the shrimp, stirring constantly, until they turn a beautiful pink and opaque. This should take about 3-5 minutes, depending on the size of the shrimp.
  6. Serving:
Once the shrimp are ready, remove the pan from the grill.
    Serve immediately and enjoy!

For this recipe, you will need:

  • A good grill
  • 4-5 garlic cloves
  • 500 g large shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 2-3 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt

Enjoy your meal!!
